§ Module 01
Hand, drum, heart
Your first strokes and the four fundamental tones of Itsekiri percussion.
§ Module 02
Patterns of welcome
How we greet elders and guests. The welcome rhythm taught for the Olu's entrance.
§ Module 03
Call & response
Playing in a circle without losing your mind. Ensemble discipline and the role of the lead drum.
§ Module 04
Performance
Play with the full ensemble, live on camera, with a curated audience of cohort families.

Prerequisites
- No drumming experience required
- Drum set (ikenge) shipped to your home
- Quiet room with floor space for seated play
- Fridays 7-9pm ET live sessions
Outcomes
- Play four fundamental tones cleanly
- Hold a welcome pattern for three full minutes
- Join a call-and-response ensemble virtually
- Perform on camera in the closing recital

Lead Percussionist · Warri traditionThe lead percussionist-instructor for this course will be named when the first cohort opens at Convention 2026. We are recruiting a master drummer trained in the Warri palace and ensemble traditions.
