§ Ìwẹrẹ Academy · Instructor recruitment

Teach what your grandmother taught you.

We are looking for language keepers, cultural practitioners, chefs, entrepreneurs, and elders with stories to pass on. Every instructor at Ìwẹrẹ Academy is stipended, supported, and placed in front of a 150-scholar audience we assembled for you.

§ 01 · Why teach with us

Stipended. Supported. Seen.

Three commitments we make to you
§ Perk 01

Paid stipends

Every instructor is compensated — from a one-session elder honorarium to multi-term contracts for core language faculty. No volunteer hours for the classroom.

$150 – $2,400 per cohort
§ Perk 02

Built-in audience

Reach 150 enrolled scholars across nine Regions without a marketing budget. Your cohort is filled by a pairing committee — not by your ad spend.

150 scholars · 9 Regions
§ Perk 03

Teaching studio

We help you structure curriculum, record sessions, and build your following. Our instructional-design team works with you for three weeks before you go live.

§ 02 · Qualifications

What we do and don't ask for.

Elders welcome · credentials optional
§ What we do ask

If any of these describe you, apply.

  • You speak Ìwẹrẹ or hold deep Itsekiri cultural knowledge (cuisine, music, history, regalia)
  • You are a member in good standing of your Region, or family of one (non-members welcome after a Regional reference)
  • You can commit to a 12-week cohort or a rolling Heritage/Skills course
  • You have reliable internet and a quiet space for live sessions
  • You are willing to co-plan your syllabus with our instructional-design lead
  • You are open to being recorded for the on-demand library
§ What we don't ask

Things we explicitly don't require.

  • We do not require a teaching credential — elders and practitioners are welcomed
  • We do not require a U.S. location — homeland instructors are paid in USD
  • We do not require English-first instruction — Ìwẹrẹ-first is preferred for language tracks
  • We do not require a polished video setup — we loan equipment to homeland instructors
§ 03 · Compensation

Paid by track, paid every month.

USD · 1099 · direct deposit
§ Ìwẹrẹ Academy · instructor compensation

Four contract types, one pay cycle.

We publish what we pay because we believe instructors deserve to plan around real numbers. Stipends are paid monthly over the cohort window. Homeland instructors are paid in USD with remittance fees covered.

Multi-term and multi-track instructors qualify for an annual retainer and Convention delegate travel.
