Land Murtala Muhammed. Overnight at the diaspora base hotel. Welcome dinner with the heritage team. Logistics briefing.
Scenic seven-hour drive through Ogun and Ondo. Bush-meat lunch in Ore. Arrive Warri by evening. Elder welcome ceremony.
Royal welcome at the Palace of the Olu of Warri. Halls where your ancestors were received. Brief audience; photography permitted.
Boat to the island capital. Walk the ruins. Learn the founding narrative. Lunch on the water with local elders.
Genealogy team works on-site to trace your lineage. Family reunions for travelers whose relatives live locally. Emotional day.
Tour the solar-Starlink clinics. Meet the patients, the nurses, and the volunteer physicians. See your donations at work.
Split into three teams: paint a school, deliver clinic supplies, or run an Iwere reading hour. Lunch with local educators.
Boat to Escravos where the rivers meet the sea. Walk the sand. Swim if you are ready. The closing ritual is here.
Morning at Mama Ejiro's kitchen — banga, starch, owho. Afternoon debrief with the elder council. Farewell dinner.
Early road to Lagos. Final group lunch. Airport drop-off. You fly home a different person.
Shorter multi-generational itinerary under design. Genealogy-heavy. Children-welcome version with lighter physical demands.
The planned flagship — a full ~10-day itinerary as drafted above, adult-oriented (18+), with deeper time in Warri and the Niger Delta.
Heritage plus impact. A longer trip structured around a service placement in a Warri school or clinic, designed for young professionals.
Any person of Itsekiri descent or their spouse/partner will be eligible. Children may join the Family Roots variant with a parent. Membership will be encouraged but can be completed during the application itself — no existing member status needed before applying.
A scholarship pool is being designed for students, first-time travelers, and members facing financial hardship. Final terms (number of spots, what is covered, airfare aid) will be set before the first trip is announced.
The first INC-USA Heritage Trip is being designed now — date and final cost TBD. Add your name to the list and we will reach out as the program firms up. You will not be charged anything by submitting.
